Job Description

The responsibility of the Director of Research & Innovation is to coordinate and support research and innovation activities within the College of Nursing, across the university, and with our external partners.

The Office of Nursing Research & Innovation (ONRI) supports faculty, students, and staff through educational content (e.g. Brown Bags, training in the responsible conduct of research), assistance and mentoring in the grant writing process, help finding funding activities and sources, mock review of proposals, and feedback on publications and presentations. The ONRI mission is to bring innovative ideas to life.

The Director will fulfill the strategic goals of the university and college to increase our involvement in federal, state, and local nursing grants, expand undergraduate opportunities for nursing research, seek funding for innovative ideas (e.g. mobile health clinic), and provide professional development and support for faculty on research and grant writing.

Required Qualifications

Must hold either a doctoral degree in nursing or an MSN plus a doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in a related field.
Required experience: Served as primary investigator for federal, state, local nursing grants and programs. Secured major funding for innovative ideas and projects. Skilled in data analysis/data-assisted decision making, report writing, and program development and implementation. Faculty and student mentorship in nursing research, projects, and grants. Established success in expanding opportunities for nursing research for both undergraduate and graduate students. Ability to work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students, both internal and external to the college, in a professional and collegial manner.
