Job Description
The Department of Economics in the Davis College of Business and Economics at Radford University invites applications for a full-time Special Purpose faculty appointment beginning August 2025. This appointment is subject to receiving final approval from the Provost’s Office, and may be renewed subject to budgetary approval. The position involves teaching four classes each semester in the areas of introduction to business and global economy and business. The successful candidate may teach other economics courses on an as-needed basis. This Special Purpose position is expected to be involved in the Davis College’s First-Year Experience programming for incoming Freshmen, connecting them to university life and career/major exploration. Candidates should have the interest and ability to engage with first year students, and should embrace our commitment to applied learning and experiential education. Commitment to superior undergraduate teaching, both face-to-face and online, is essential. The position will also include service and advising.

The Davis College of Business and Economics has a student body of approximately 900 undergraduates and approximately 100 graduate students (MBA). The Davis College of Business and Economics (https://www.radford.edu/cobe) is one of seven undergraduate colleges at Radford University, is accredited by AACSB at the undergraduate and graduate level (MBA), and is housed in a 110,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility. Required Qualifications
A successful applicant must have: -- a Master's degree or PhD in economics, business or a related field. ABDs with a firm completion date are also considered; -- a faculty qualification per AACSB requirements. This may entail either substantial professional experience for those with a Master's degree or an active research portfolio for those with a Doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates have: -- Experience teaching a broad population of heterogeneous undergraduate students, including first-year, first-generation students. -- Experience using a variety of teaching techniques and technologies, including teaching online, using high-impact practices in the classroom, and experiential/applied learning. -- Experience with first-year programming, retention/recruitment, career/major selection, and/or advising student groups. -- Interdisciplinary business knowledge and the ability to describe different areas of business to undergraduate students.
