Job Description
As a School Certifying Official (SCO) for military education benefits, you’ll be the trusted expert certifying military-connected students using VA Education Benefits and Tuition Assistance (TA).
In this role, you’ll manage the day-to-day certification process, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. You’ll serve as the primary liaison with VA, military branches, State Approving Agency (SAA), and Education Liaison Representative (ELR)—interpreting and applying policies while advocating for students’ needs.
You’ll provide personalized support to students, helping them make the most of their benefits and stay on track toward their goals. You’ll collaborate across campus to manage process improvement, enhance student experience, and manage a department budget. Required Qualifications
Experience in a deadline-driven customer service setting. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate in a team environment serving a diverse population. Experience interpreting and disseminating policies, procedures, and department information. Experience with data entry and database systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel. Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage office budgets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with military students or military benefits administration. Experience providing administrative support in higher education student services or academic affairs settings. Proficiency with student information systems and military education portals. Knowledge of FERPA and other federal privacy and academic records maintenance regulations in a higher education environment. Experience working with confidential and detailed information.
