Job Description

The College of Education and Human Development at Radford University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor, full-time special purpose faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education to begin Fall 2025.

The position will require teaching and university service. Primary responsibilities are teaching a range of core counseling courses and clinically focused courses (i.e., practicum and internship); serving as the Clinical Field Placement Coordinator; mentoring and supervising students; participating in assessment and improvement; contributing to department, college, and university service; and participating in professional activities. Evening, off-campus, is to be expected, with the option to teach summer semesters.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Field Placement Coordinator include:

o Assisting students with obtaining internship placements
o Collaborating with fieldwork sites to establish practicum and internship sites that meet university requirements and CACREP standards
o Maintaining a list of approved clinical-based sites for internship
o Ensuring MOU with fieldwork sites is completed and verified
o Responding to inquiries regarding practicum and internship from both students and fieldwork sites
o Collaborating with community partners to coordinate practicum and internship placements
o Assisting with the writing and compilation of accreditation documents related to clinical field placements
o Providing supervision to practicum and internship students
o Maintaining LPC for supervision purposes
o Collaborating with the field experience office and School Counseling Program Coordinator to coordinate placements for School Counseling interns

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate for this position must have an earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program; a record of successful teaching; and evidence of commitment to student success and active learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or licensed eligible in Virginia
Experience as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or School Counselor
